Unemployed, day 5&6.

Posted on February 8, 2010

This weekend, I tried to put off be being unemployed. My weekend had been planned for weeks, My sister-in-law’s birthday party, a craft day, golf tournament, meeting with a photographer for my cousins wedding. All of these things should have been fun, and honestly they were, except the dreaded question, “How’s the job?” just a reminder that these people know me for what i do. I awkwardly went into the conversation this is how they looked over and over.

Friend: “Hows your job?”

me: “i was laid off on monday.”

Friend: “What? I thought things were going well”

me: “I thought so too”

Friend: “didn’t you just get a new office?”

me: “yep, it sucks”

Friend: “i’m sorry”

me: “thanks”

imagine this conversation happening over and over, at things i just wanted to be normal at.

All in all it was a good weekend, I love my friends so it’s nice having them around. But each time i say I was laid off, makes it more real.
